Getting Started With BetTurtle

Your Personalised Getting Started Guide on BetTurtle

Everyone comes to BetTurtle for a slightly different reason. Some want quick daily tips. Others want to learn form study properly. Some are here to build automated racing systems. And a growing number want to download data for their own analysis.

Until now, every new user landed on the same page and had to figure things out for themselves. That changes today.

We have introduced a personalised getting started experience that tailors your first steps on BetTurtle to exactly what you want to achieve. Here is how it works.

Step 1: Tell Us Your Goal

When you create your free account, you will see four options:

  • Get Daily Tips -- You want quick selections and shortlists without spending hours on form study.
  • Learn Form Study -- You want to develop your own ability to read race cards and assess horses.
  • Build Racing Systems -- You want to create automated filters that find qualifying runners for you.
  • Download Racing Data -- You want spreadsheets, statistics, and datasets for your own analysis.

Set experience level and betting goal

Set your experience level and achievement goal to tailor your BetTurtle experience.

Choose the one that best describes why you are here. There is no wrong answer, and you can always explore the other areas later.

Step 2: Follow Your Five-Step Plan

Once you have chosen your goal, BetTurtle creates a personalised five-step plan designed specifically for that path. Each step builds on the previous one, so you progress naturally without feeling overwhelmed.

If You Chose "Get Daily Tips"

Your plan focuses on finding and using BetTurtle's tip selections efficiently:

  1. Focus on Good Betting Races -- Learn to spot the star, thumbs-up, and thumbs-down icons on each race to identify where BetTurtle sees the best opportunities.
  2. Check the Top Picks -- Understand how to read the Win Tip, NAP, and NB badges, use the Order dropdown to sort by rating, and click a horse's name for the full picture.
  3. Study the Odds -- Click on any odds price to see market trends and understand the colour coding: green and amber suggest value, red suggests the price may have shortened too far.
  4. Refine Your Shortlist -- Use the heart icon to save horses to your shortlist, then visit My Shortlist under the Tips menu to review your selections and track results.
  5. Go Deeper When You Are Ready -- Use the Form button on any horse to explore its full racing history, including sire, trainer, and jockey statistics.

If You Chose "Learn Form Study"

Your plan introduces the core concepts of race analysis:

  1. Read a Race Card -- Open any race card and learn what each column means, from form figures to Horseshoe Ratings.
  2. Understand Horseshoe Ratings -- Learn BetTurtle's five-factor rating system: Fitness, Ability, Conditions, Vibes, and Market. Green means positive, amber is neutral, red is negative.
  3. Compare Runners -- Use the race card filters and sorting options to compare horses on the factors that matter most to you.
  4. Check the Form -- Click any horse to see its full racing history, trainer and jockey statistics, and past performance at today's course and distance.
  5. Explore Pointer Reports -- Discover the 40+ pre-built reports that highlight runners meeting specific criteria, from course specialists to class changers.

If You Chose "Build Racing Systems"

Your plan walks you through the system builder:

  1. Explore Existing Reports -- Start with BetTurtle's Pointer Reports to see what automated analysis looks like in practice.
  2. Create Your First System -- Open the System Builder and combine two or three simple filters to define a set of qualifying runners.
  3. Backtest Your System -- Review how your system would have performed historically using the built-in profit and loss statistics.
  4. Refine and Iterate -- Adjust your filters based on the backtest results. Add conditions, remove those that do not improve performance.
  5. Monitor Daily Qualifiers -- Set your system to run daily and check the results each morning for that day's qualifying runners.

If You Chose "Download Racing Data"

Your plan covers the data export tools:

  1. Browse Today's Data -- Open a race card and explore the 300+ statistics available for each runner.
  2. Download Your First Export -- Visit the Downloads section and export today's race data as an Excel spreadsheet.
  3. Understand the Columns -- Review the column guide to understand what each of the 300+ statistics measures.
  4. Explore Historical Data -- Learn how to access historical data for backtesting and model building.
  5. Build Your Workflow -- Set up a daily routine for downloading and processing the data in your preferred tools.

Step 3: Find Your Guide Anytime

Your personalised plan is always available from the compass icon in the navigation bar. Click it at any time to return to your getting started guide and pick up where you left off.

You can also view you plan and change your goal in your Profile Settings.

If you have not yet chosen a goal, you will see a prompt inviting you to select one. You can also change your goal at any time from the Getting Started page.

The Redesigned Help Centre

Alongside the getting started guide, we have also reorganised the Help Centre to match these same four goals.

When you visit the Help Centre, you will see tabs across the top:

  • Tips -- Help articles focused on using BetTurtle for daily selections
  • Learn -- Articles about form study techniques and understanding the data
  • Systems -- Guides for building and managing automated racing systems
  • Data -- Documentation for data downloads and exports
  • All -- Every article in one list
  • Reference -- Technical reference material

The new BetTurtle help centre

The help centre provides a one stop shop to learn about horse racing and BetTurtle

The articles are the same ones you may have seen before, but now they are organised by what you are trying to achieve rather than by technical category. This makes it much easier to find the help you need.

For Returning Users

If you are an existing subscriber returning after a break, you will see a welcome back message the next time you sign in. This will guide you to the Getting Started page where you can choose your goal and get a refresher on the features most relevant to you.

You do not need to complete every step -- just pick up whatever is useful and skip what you already know.

Free Race Cards: Try Before You Sign Up

You do not need a subscription to explore. Every user -- including those without an account -- can view free race cards every day. This lets you see the full layout, browse the runners, and get a feel for how BetTurtle presents information before making any commitment.

If you are visiting for the first time, you can preview the four goal paths and see what each five-step plan covers, all without creating an account.

Getting Started Is Personal

Everyone's racing journey is different. A punter looking for quick daily tips has very different needs from someone building a data model in a spreadsheet. By asking one simple question -- "What do you want to achieve?" -- we can point you in the right direction from the very first click.

Choose your goal, follow your five steps, and explore at your own pace. The compass icon is always there if you need to find your way back.

If you have any questions, the Help Centre is the best place to start, or you can contact us directly.

Happy punting!

Julia
