"Breed the best to the best and hope for the best” - an old horse racing adage regarding breeding.
Sire statistics can provide an excellent source of information to gain a betting edge, as comprehensive statistical information is not widely available to the general betting public.
Flat Graded and Listed Races
As an example the table below shows the top sires with at least 10 Flat Race Graded or Listed wins since 2021.

The top of the list is Frankel with an impressive 22.55% strike rate and an even more impressive 22.65% Return On Investment (ROI).
Breaking this data down further we can glean some further insights.

Frankel's progeny have won 18 group races from 61 attempts (29.51% strike rate and 101% ROI). However, we can also see profitable ROI angles for Dubawi, No Nay Never, Kingman and Australia in certain grades of races.
Flat Handicap Races
The data for handicap races shows Kodiac is the winning most sire with 198 winners. However, his 9.84% strike rate is not nearly as impressive as Dubawi's 109 winners with a 20.6% strike rate.

Delving deeper using additional trainer data, we can see the trainers that do the best in handicap races with the top sires.

Key insights include:
Charlie Appleby with 30.1% strike rate and 21.84% ROI with Dubawi bred horses.
William Haggas with 33.33% strike rate and 79.49% ROI with Sea The Stars progeny and he also does very well with Frankel bred horses.
Steph Hollinshead is the standout, with a 54.17% strike rate and 271.25% ROI with Al Kazeem sired horses.
